Week 58: A Good Mix

It's been a good week! Good mix of just about everything. Some fun Christmas party/devotionals, super good food, lessons, dropping people, rejections, lots of tracting, miles of walking, and air hockey! I was thinking that would be a good title for my email, but that's prooobably a bit long. Either way, I'll just jump into it ha

The area has been a bit slow in the way of teaching and finding as of late. Especially now the semester is over people are going home for the holidays, so it's been sort of rough. We still have a few people we're teaching, but we're trying to branch out on our finding methods. I think I see gray calls in our future (people who have been stopped teaching in the past). My companion and I have also been assigned to manage the San Antonio mission Facebook page, so that'll be interesting to take care of. Neither of us are very skilled in the way of Facebook finding, so this may be a good learning opportunity for us!

We had our mission Christmas devotional this week which was AWESOME. It's always great to see the other missionaries and to catch up with past companions and friends. And to make it all so much better is the fantastic Texas BBQ to go with it! There's some members here that own a catering business that prepared the meal and several stakes helped pay for it. Needless to say, but we are super grateful! It was awesome. I kinda went into a coma for a little bit afterwards, but I recovered and we went back to work.

We recently started actually teaching a guy named MJ who's been coming to ward activities for almost 6 months now! He hasn't really shown much interest until recently when some ward members started asking why he hasn't been baptized yet. We're now working with him towards a date next month, and we're pretty excited about it! Hopefully all goes well.

We also finally stopped teaching an "etern-igator" this week ha. Finally laid it out plain for him and came to the conclusion he's not interested in progressing. One of those things that's not necessarily good, but it is good that we can focus a bit more of our efforts elsewhere.

We had the legendary monthly YSA pizza night at the Strocks this Friday, which was a blast as always! It feels like home whenever we go there because of the atmosphere and the home-made pizza (not as good as MY mom's though!)

We did a good amount of finding this week, but unfortunately it wasn't too fruitful. We did do QUITE a bit of walking too! Our finding method of walking along the greenway path hasn't resulted in finding anybody to teach yet, but we've had some really nice conversations. I think it's helping us feel more comfortable stopping people and talking to them...or at least attempting to! Some people just seem to lose their hearing all of a sudden when we walk past. Interesting. We won't give up though!

We had a really nice Christmas program at church yesterday! It was all music with some scripture verses read in between songs. I went first and I sang Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel. It went well! I was definitely nervous since it had been a good while since I'd performed in front of people, but apparently it didn't show too much.

I'm a bit short on time, so I'll end this one here. I would like to leave y'all with an invitation though! Go to lightheworld.org and select a random combination for an opportunity to serve. Go share the Light of Christ with the people around you!

I love you all and I hope this week is awesome! I'll probably write a little something next week, but Merry Christmas y'all!

Love,
Elder DeWitt
A nice foggy/drizzly day.

Dead (gratefully) roaches we found while tracting. It never occurred to me that some people (my companion) don't have roaches where they live. Odd.

Me and Elder Mack at the Christmas devotional!

Elder Jones sat in a chair. Or maybe the chair grabbed him?
