Week 27: Banished to the Boonies!

Howdy from Central Nowhere! (just about the middle)

Wow it been a week already? It seriously never ceases to surprise me how fast a week goes. And this week has been quite the week!
Transfers are always a but chaotic, but I think everyone made it out alive! I have the job of helping fix broken bikes on the day of transfers, so that means that I have to go to transfers every time (even if I'm not moving) and I get to wear regular clothes! It's a bit awkward when none of the bikes are broken though so you just stick out like a sore thumb. Oh well!

My companion is awesome and this area is hilarious!
Elder Ashby and I get along great and we've been working hard! Cotulla is absolutely tiny, but there's a good amount of work to be done. We have like...20 members. We don't even qualify as a branch! We're actually the Cotulla GROUP. We don't have a church building, so we meet in a dojo. Yes. A dojo. Our group leader teaches Brazilian Jujitsu so we set up chairs there and have church! (And yes the chairs are the same tan ones in every church building. They're universal haha) The members are basically all related. It's like three or four families and they're hilarious! Everyone just roasts and makes fun of each other. Its seriously so funny to watch. Great people though!

Everyone always talks about that small town where everybody knows everybody...yeah that's Cotulla! Everyone really just seems to be related or somehow connected to each other. Pretty nice when you're trying to find someone or ask for a referral!
Cotulla is laid out like a grid and it's super awesome for navigation! Plus it's small. It's not too hard to find your way around.

Much of these past few days has been a lot of riding around town stopping by our friends and some tracting. The weather has been pretty muggy and hot which isn't super fun, but we're surviving! Again, the end of the day is quite satisfying. Dog tired, but happy. We've had a couple of lessons and been chased by a bunch of dogs.

On my second day we drove down to a place called Encenal to do some service for the food bank handing out food to people. Basically spent an hour and a half throwing frozen catfish into peoples cars and trucks! They gave us some of the leftover catfish, dates, and almonds when we were done, so now we're loaded up! It was a good time.

Today we drove up to Pearsall to buy groceries which was a 30 minute drive which is better than the 1 hour we would otherwise have to make. Later today, we are going to the dojo with our district to learn some Jujutsu! Should be fun.

I gotta go so I'll hafta end this here. I love you all and I hope this week is fantastic!
Happy late mother's day to all you moms! You're doing great. Catch y'all next week!

Love,
Elder DeWitt
