Week 4: Behind Enemy Lines

Happy Monday ya'll! Its been a week already? Wow. So, I made it to San Antonio! Met the mission president and his wife, had some pretty great Texas BBQ, and got to meet our trainers. Enter: Elder Hatfield. All 6'7 of him. He's just a little bit tall...He's a stud of an Elder too. He has about four months left on his mission, so he's pretty seasoned (which is nice for me because I have a lot I can learn from him). I actually started in a trio until, well, today actually. Elder Powley was our third Elder who's original assignment was to Portugal and just left this morning. Good missionary.

Thanksgiving morning we woke up early to do volunteer work for the San Antonio turkey trot. Also happened to be the most fog I have ever seen, which was pretty fun haha. We had Thanksgiving dinner with a family which was good (Not as good as home though)
I've been having a good time here though. San Antonio reminds me somewhat of New Mexico sometimes. There's some sketchy areas around here, so we don't tract once it starts getting dark. We make a lot of phone calls at that point and try to schedule appointments. Fun stuff! We don't get fed by members very often in this area, unfortunately. Lots of chicken, rice, and veggies for us haha. I'm not complaining though. Elder Mitchel is a good cook, so he takes good care of us. (Oh yeah we have another companionship in our apartment. Elders Mitchel and Rosengren. Solid Elders for sure.) The ward isn't very strong here, but hopefully we can change that. There's definitely some gems in our ward that you just love immediately. We appreciate them a ton.

For P-day today, we went to Buc-ees. For those of you know don't know what buc-ees is, it's like a QT or Maverics on steroids. And crack. And probably a lot of caffeine. They have pretty much everything you can imagine with their logo on it. This place is awesome haha. I got a shirt, and I think it's pretty sweet. Maybe I'll send a picture. Maybe if you're lucky. We're currently at zone sports playing basketball. Sorta intense ha! (We do have a little fitness center in our complex that we gave permission to go to, so that's awesome. We take advantage of that.)
There's probably a ton that I'm missing but I'll wrap it up here. Busy day today! I'm so glad to be here and I can't wait to get more comfortable teaching people. Thanks for reading! I love you all and hope you all have a great week!

Love, Elder DeWitt
