Week 3: Adventure is out there!

Helloooooooo everyone welcome back to another segment of what we like to call on this show, "Elder DeWitt Almost Forgot He Had To Write An Email Because P-days Are Surprisingly Busy!!!"

One of my personal favorites! Well, let's get on with the show.

Starting off strong this week, we began with an early morning trip to the Provo temple! Definitely the highlight of my day...except that we had to wait two hours to get into a session because there were uh around a billion people who came that morning with appointments and weeee did not have one. Regardless, still had a wonderful experience there, and I hope to have time to go again before I leave.

Speaking of which, I leave Wednesday morning! At 4 am!
Fun fact of the show, when you leave the MTC you have to leave FIVE HOURS EARLY for your flight! We here like to call this the "We Have to Walk to a Bus Stop, Take That Bus To a Train Stop, Take That Train to the Salt Lake City Airport, and Then Walk a Mile to Your Terminal" effect! It is quite a mystery to all of us at the studio why it is like this. Quite puzzling indeed.
(also a fact for any of you future missionaries who might be reading this, don't wear your p-day clothes to meals. They won't let you in. Don't ask me why ahah)

At this time, we would like to take what we here at the studio call a "Safety Moment"! Today's moment is to not stand too close to that one Elder who is a little bit...enthusistic, we'll say. They very well may randomly karate chop the air for whatever reason and full on jab you in the eyeball when you least expect it! But of course, none of us would be dumb anough to not know that...er right? Because I dEfiNitEly knew that one on Tuesday. Mhmm. Both of my eyes are uh quite operational! Yes, yes...
(all jokes, I'm totally fine but it was really funny ahah. Love you Elder Bouhuise!)

And at last, the most riveting part of the show! *drumrollllllllll*
Uh. We had a lot of class? And devotionals and workshops......
HOW EXCITING, I KNOW!!! With such marvelous teachers as I had, there was NEVER a dull moment! Ok, I may be exaggerating slightly, but each lesson really was very insightful and spiritually edifying. Indeed, indeed.

We also had the great privilage and pleasure to escort the new missionary arrivals onto campus! I just know that they will enjoy their time here just as much as I have! (hopefully more than I have even. Long as their digestive system agrees with the MTC food...unlike mine heh) This, of course, was a bittersweet time for all. The excitement of beginning missionary life, mingled with the sorrow of leaving loved ones behind. Truly heartbreaking. (Seeing all the crying moms was actually super sad though. Did it make me a bit homesick? maybe...but I know I'm where I'm supposed to be, so I'm happy)

With the last minute of our show today, I would like to take a moment of silence for those missionaries we lost yesterday.......to the airport.

They are in a better place now. Hopfully somewhere that has higher quality food and not public showers. They shall be missed.

Well, I believe that is all we have time for today for our show. Tune in next time for "Week 4: Behind Enemy Lines!" Thank you, and goodnight!

Ok jokes aside, I've been having a great time here at the MTC. There are obviously hard moments, but I've learned so much in three weeks and I'm so excited to get into the field. Having to leave these amazing friends I've made here is really hard, but we are all going to do the Lord's work. That's so amazing and I'm so happy for all of us, really. I will miss all of them (and already miss some of them a ton. I'm looking at you Elders Bagwell and Bowow Bouhuise)

I want to share a super fast spiritual thought as I wrap this thing up. (ok it turned out a little bit longer than SUPER short, but give it a read) I want to share a verse from the Book of Mormon. It's Alma 26:12. I really love this verse as I have been worrying about my inadequacies and shortcomings as a servant of God. This verse came to me in a moment where I was doubting myself and only seeing my weaknesses and my faults (Notice that I was thinking a whole lot about myself, huh?) Anyways, the scripture says, "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." This was such a wonderful reminder to me that through the Lord, I can do all things. I am weak by myself, but through Him, I AM enough. I do have the strength to bring forth His word to the world. I always try to remember that instead of thinking that "Me + more = Christ", it is rather Me + Christ = MORE. Through His power and grace, we can really become more.

Thank you guys for reading and putting up with my funky email haha. I miss you all and I pray for you! Have a great week everyone!

Love,
Elder DeWitt
