Week 47: Mr. Worldwide
Hey y'all! Let's see if I can make up for the "meh" emails the last few weeks hah. We fill up our P-days so much and I end up overestimating how much time I have. I always wish we had all day p-days! That would make it so much less stressful.
Throwing chronological order out the window, General Conference! Or (as was pointed out to me by my mom) the Worldwide Conference which I think is just a cool distinction to make. It's an event where the prophets and apostles of the Lord speak to the entire WORLD! For some reason that's been something that's been on my mind this last week and seems to keep coming up in conversation too. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a worldwide church that exists for the perfecting and edifying of ALL of God's children. I also occurred to me how cool it is that we get multiple opportunities to offer prayers unto the Lord across the world together during conference weekend!
It's hard for me to pick a favorite talk since they were ALL so good! Buuuut I gotta say that President Nelson's talk was so fantastic. He touched on so many doctrinal points and his love was so evident. And 20 new temples!!! Runner up for me would probably be Dallin H Oaks' talk for how deep it went into the kingdoms of glory. So I guess they really tie together as they both talked about Celestial glory and what we need to do to receive it. I love getting to hear the inspired messages from the prophets and apostles. It's so awesome.
This week was largely normal with the usual activities like service at the Food Bank, institute, and campus finding, but this week we also got to do our semi-annual conference cleaning (deep cleaning our apartment) My mom would probably say otherwise especially when it comes to my bedroom, but I love cleaning! Once I start and get in the zone, it becomes super satisfying actually. Great way to de-stress.
Saturday morning before conference started we played ultimate Frisbee again! Even thought my team lost both games (it was pretty close scoring) it was some of the most fun I've had playing a sport. Volleyball is also super fun, but I think that this Saturday was the most into a game I've gotten haha. I was absolutely drenched in sweat by the end of it and felt like I was about to throw up from running, but I had so much fun. And I had a few clutch plays too! I'm slowly improving ha.
Today we're in Area 51.
...
Area 51 is a little food truck park with sand Volleyball a few little fields for soccer and stuff. It's super fun! We're here with a bunch of other missionaries and the weather is pretty good finally. It's overcast so it's not bright and blazing hot and there's a nice breeze too. No idea what else we're going to do with the day, but I'm sure we'll do some shopping and...something else ha. Elder Beyler loves having full p-days so we'll come up with something! In the meantime we're playing soccer and more ultimate Frisbee. Should be a good day!
This isn't a very long email but I don't really have much else to write about. This week was fun and the weekend was so awesome. We got to watch it with members for every session which is sooooo much better than alone in our apartment. And I got to spend more time with the Pieroni's dog! (Abby) So much hair but so so fun. I love that dog so flippin' much. Anyways, imma go play Frisbee now! Hope y'all have a great week!
Love,
Elder DeWitt
