Week 26: See Ya in Cotulla!

Hey y'all! Well I have a whole lot to do today, so this will be a shorter email unfortunately, but it's been a good week! We got transfer news last night and I'm headed to a place called Cotulla. It'll be very different from the areas I've served in so far, so I'm excited! Not sure exactly what to expect, but I've heard it's quite a big area and my new companion, Elder Ashby, is pretty cool hah. Cotulla proper is pretty small and it's a grid too! (Should be pretty easy to figure out the lay of the land) The nearest Walmart is 35 miles away, so...yeah!

Best of all though, we get to drive a Tacoma! Needless to say I'm very excited about that.

This was a pretty good week. We had a couple impromptu lessons that went fsr longer than we expected ha! After church  yesterday we called someone in our records who we proceeded to have an almost hour long conversation with about the church (not really a surprise there). He studied philosophy and religion, so he was pretty knowledgeable. Those are always interesting lessons because often times they end up preaching to us and we sometimes don't even get a word in!

That evening we stopped by a referral we received from some a member in Navada (the referrals nefew) and had a two hour long lesson with him! I'm not sure where the time goes when we teach. It was quite a good lesson and I think he really needed to hear our message. The funny (and kind of awkward) part was that there was a straight up satanic horror movie playing right behind him, so we were just making uncomfortable and completely unbroken eye contact with him the entire time. We aren't sure he even what was playing or if it was even on at all! In hindsight we should have just asked him if we could turn it off...that probably would have been smart. He was a real interesting older gentleman who really just wants to know the truth, and hopefully the missionaries here keep meeting with him.
We found another person this week and had a fantastic lesson with him. He's been put through the ringer lately. It's so awesome meeting people who have questions and struggles in their lives and knowing that the gospel can and absolutely will change their lives for the better. I think I can safely say we all need more joy and peace in our lives. I love what I do!

We got to do some service for a member family who is renovating an older home. We moved a bunch of furniture, stripped carpet, and carried stacks of sheet rock into the house for installation. They also have some adorable Frenchies! Of course it always comes back to dogs with me. Always.

Well, I have a lot of packing to do today so I'll wrap this up here. I leave on Wednesday, so I'm going to try to pack as much as I can today so I'm not stressing as much tomorrow! Packing up all of your belongings is the worst by the way. I'm improving at least. Anyways, I hope yall have a fantastic week! Stay safe. See yall in Cotulla!

Love,
Elder DeWitt
